Interior Painting for Oakville Homes

Interior painting in Oakville splits between old trim and new finishes. In Old Oakville, Kerr Village and Bronte the houses have deep original mouldings buried under decades of oil paint, while out in Glen Abbey, River Oaks and Joshua Creek people want doors and trim that look like they came that way.

Both need patience more than speed. I sand back what needs it, prime for adhesion, and let each coat dry the full time before the next one goes on. You get the price before I start, and I am the person who shows up to do it.

In Old Oakville and Kerr Village the original casings and baseboards are deep, and after a century of repainting the profile is half buried in old oil. Those get sanded back enough to bring the detail out without carving into the wood, then primed for adhesion. Out in Glen Abbey and Joshua Creek the ask is different: doors and trim that look factory finished. That means a self-levelling enamel, light sanding between coats and waiting out the recoat time instead of rushing it.

How It Runs

From Message to Finished Job

1
Walk the rooms

I look at every surface you want painted, check the trim, ceilings and past repairs, note what needs filling or priming, and talk through sheen and colour with you. Photos sent ahead of the visit speed the quote up.

2
Cover and prepare

Furniture moves to the centre and gets sheeted, floors are protected, plates and hardware come off, then holes are filled, joints are caulked and every patch is primed so nothing flashes through the finish.

3
Cut in and roll

Ceilings first, then walls, then trim and doors, two coats on each, keeping a wet edge and rolling back into the cut line so the finish reads the same right across the wall.

4
Reassemble and inspect

Hardware and plates go back on, the room is put together, rubbish leaves with me, and I walk the space with you in daylight so anything that is not right gets touched up before I go.

What Affects the Price in Oakville

Painting is priced by the surface, not by the name of the room. A bedroom with smooth walls, sound trim and a light colour going over a light colour moves quickly. The same room takes far longer with cracked plaster, a dark colour underneath, tall ceilings, heavy furniture to shift, or oil-based trim that has to be scuffed and primed before it will hold paint. Supplying the paint myself adds material cost with receipts, and you are welcome to supply your own. Either way the price is agreed before I start.

Nothing starts before the price is agreed. Send a photo or two with your request and I can usually quote without a site visit.

Asked in Oakville

Can you get a smooth factory look on my Oakville doors and trim without spraying?

Yes, with the right enamel and patience. A self-levelling waterborne enamel laid off with a good brush flattens as it dries, so brush marks disappear. Between coats everything gets a light sand, and each coat is left the full recoat time rather than being rushed. On older Oakville trim I also sand back the built-up layers first, so the profile shows again.
