Handyman Services for Toronto Homes

Handyman services in Toronto cover a lot of ground, because the housing does. In one week I might be patching plaster in a Victorian semi off Dundas, then swapping a light fixture in a King West condo. I am Sercan, and I do the work myself, so the person you speak to on the phone is the person at your door.

Most Toronto calls come as a list rather than one job. Downtown parking and elevator bookings make repeat visits awkward, so I would rather work through the whole list in a single trip and leave you with nothing outstanding.

Much of old Toronto was built before 1950, so the walls are plaster over wood lath rather than drywall. A standard drywall anchor spins uselessly in it, and the keyed coat behind crumbles if you lean on the drill. I find the studs, use the right fastener, and patch with setting compound so the repair does not shrink back. Century-old settlement also racks door frames, which is why so many downtown doors bind in summer and rattle in winter.

How It Runs

From Message to Finished Job

1
Send me your list

Write out everything that needs doing, even the small items, and add photos of anything unusual. Photos of the wall, the fitting or the damage let me price accurately without a site visit in most cases.

2
Free quote agreed

I come back with a fixed price or an hourly rate and an honest estimate of how long the list will take. Nothing is booked until you are happy with it, and there is no obligation.

3
One visit, whole list

I arrive with the tools and materials for everything you listed, work through the items in a sensible order, and keep you posted if anything underneath turns out different from what the photos showed.

4
Clean up and check

Before I pack up, you and I walk the list together. The work area is vacuumed, offcuts and packaging leave with me, and receipts for any materials I supplied are handed over. If something is not right afterwards, I come back.

What Affects the Price in Toronto

Price depends on the list, not on a single job. A visit with several small items usually works out better than booking each separately, because setup and travel are shared across the whole trip. Wall type, access, ceiling height and the condition of what I find all move the figure. Materials can come from me with receipts, or you can supply your own. Awkward access, heritage plaster and rooms full of furniture take longer. Whatever the job, the fixed price or hourly rate is agreed before I start.

Nothing starts before the price is agreed. Send a photo or two with your request and I can usually quote without a site visit.

Asked in Toronto

Can you do several small jobs in my Toronto condo in one visit?

Yes, and that is usually the sensible way to do it. Tell me the full list when you call, and I will estimate how long it takes so you can book the service elevator for the right window. I confirm the price before I start. If something on the list turns out to need a licensed trade, I will say so rather than guess.
